Good questions.
Straight answers.
A locksmith call often starts with uncertainty: what will it cost, how long will it take, and does the lock really need replacing? Here are useful answers before you arrange a visit.
Do you come to my location?
Yes. LockReach is a mobile locksmith service. Give us the full Bronx address and the entrance or vehicle location when you call. We confirm current service availability for that address. This website does not advertise a walk-in shop.
Can I call outside normal business hours?
The LockReach phone line is available 24/7. Call to check current mobile availability, the type of work needed and an estimated arrival time.
How quickly can a locksmith arrive?
Call for an estimate based on your location and current availability. Travel, traffic and building access affect arrival. We do not promise the same number of minutes for every Bronx address.
How much will the work cost?
The cost depends on the door or vehicle, the fault and any parts or programming required. Discuss the expected charges when arranging the visit and agree on the proposed work and price before it begins.
Do I need identification for a lockout?
Your right to access the home, business or vehicle needs to be established. Have identification and relevant proof ready. If those documents are locked inside, explain that during the call so an appropriate alternative can be discussed.
Will the lock have to be replaced after opening the door?
Not automatically. An intact, suitable lock may be kept. Damage, a failed mechanism or concerns about who still has a key can change the recommended next step. The door needs to be assessed before a method is promised.
What is the difference between rekeying and replacing a lock?
Rekeying changes which key operates a compatible cylinder. Replacing changes the hardware. Rekeying does not repair a worn mechanism, so the lock condition and your reason for changing access both matter.
Can you help with an older apartment lock?
Describe the lock and door when you call. Older installations may use hardware with different dimensions and parts. Support and parts availability need to be checked on the specific installation.
My key works when the door is open but not closed. Why?
The lock may be meeting resistance at the frame or strike. That is a useful symptom to report, though it is not a diagnosis by itself. A door assessment helps distinguish alignment problems from a fault inside the lock.
Can I change the shared entrance lock in my building?
Shared or managed hardware requires the appropriate building authorization. Contact the superintendent or managing agent before arranging changes. Your apartment door and the building entry system are separate access points.
Can you replace a lost car key?
Replacement-key support depends on the vehicle and key system. Give us the make, model and year, whether any working key remains, and your exact location. Compatibility and availability are checked before the visit.
Do you service every vehicle make?
No universal coverage is promised. The vehicle, key type and requested work determine whether service is supported. Call with the details before buying a replacement remote or arranging attendance.
What should I do if someone is trapped in a vehicle?
If a person or animal is in immediate danger, call 911 first. Do not wait for routine locksmith service while an urgent safety situation develops.
Can a business keep its existing locks after a staff change?
Possibly. Compatible locks in good condition may be rekeyed so old keys no longer operate them. Identify the doors and desired access first, then discuss the condition and suitability of the hardware.
Can several doors work with one key?
Sometimes, if the locks and the required access arrangement are compatible. It is not safe to assume that every brand or type can be combined. We assess the hardware before proposing that setup.
Do you handle safes, mailbox locks or motorcycle keys?
Those services, along with key duplication, are outside the scope advertised on this LockReach site. The service pages focus on home, business and supported car lock and key work.
